Quick FAQ
What services do you offer?
Our services include medical standby services for queer events. We act as a liaison between your organization and public safety agencies including police, fire, and paramedic personnel. We carry fully equipped medical kits such as medical oxygen, AED, and advanced medical equipment designed to treat and stabilize injuries
What level of care do you provide?
Our staff are competent Primary Care Paramedics (AEMCA certified) and Registered Nurses who are in good standing with the College of Nurses Ontario. Please note, we do not offer symptom relief at this time and we only perform controlled acts when authorized under the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Why should we hire a Queer Event Medical Services Team?
Queer EMR was founded because there was no visible representation of the queer community in the event medical services scene. Prior to establishing the team, feedback was received from queer event organizers some of whom expressed a concern that traditional event medical service organizations were unable to meet the needs sought by queer event organizers because of cultural and community disconnection. This disconnection led to disparities in how queer attendees were treated during medical emergencies, for example. Queer EMR is established to reduce these disparities and to provide a sense of safety and wellbeing for the queer attendees of your event. We endorse a trauma informed approach to our work, incorporate the important principles of harm reduction, and are comfortable working in sex positive spaces. We also prioritize the hiring of LGBTQ2IA+ BIPOC paramedics/nurses.
